The professional home for English language teaching
The Propannex Council brings together teachers, trainers and institutions to raise standards, support career-long professional development and recognise quality across the ELT profession.
A professional board for the ELT community
The Propannex Council (ELT Professionals Board) exists to serve people who teach English, not to sell them courses. We are an independent body that sets standards, champions ethical practice and helps teachers grow throughout their careers.
From your first year in the classroom to leading a department, membership gives you a professional anchor: recognised standards to work towards, structured CPD, a research digest written for practitioners, and a global community of colleagues.
We also assess and recognise training providers against published quality criteria, so that anyone choosing where to train can do so with confidence.

What the Council does
Four areas of work that support teachers, trainers and institutions across the ELT profession.
Set Standards
Published professional standards and a code of practice that define quality teaching across the ELT field.
Develop Practice
A structured CPD framework, recognition routes and webinars that help teachers grow throughout their careers.
Recognise Providers
Independent assessment of training organisations against quality criteria, with a public directory and reviews.
Share Research
The ELT Review and resource library translate research into practical ideas teachers can use on Monday morning.
A profession, connected
The Propannex Council brings together teachers in over seventy countries, from new graduates to academic directors. Together we set the bar for what good ELT looks like and help each other reach it.
Recognition by the Council is a mark teachers and employers trust. Our standards are reviewed openly, our committees include practising teachers, and our work is funded by members, not by selling courses.
